Must also be able to determine whether a facility's existing equipment uses abandoned or obsolete technology and whether the equipment meets standards for acceptability. Experience with market surveys of current technology, a comprehensive evaluation of existing equipment, an evaluation of trends and developments that will affect diagnostic imaging, patient monitoring, laboratory requirements and other emerging technologies at healthcare facilities and knowledge of contract information where pertinent is essential to this position. The evaluation may also include telecommunications equipment to determine if the existing infrastructure will support new teleradiology initiatives. Must also be able to develop and provide acquisition strategies for new and emerging medical systems within their sub-specialty. Must be willing to travel to multiple DOD healthcare sites to perform on-site interviews with departmental staff and evaluations of current technology and management operations within the healthcare setting (hospital, radiology or clinical laboratory departments, etc.) for the purpose of gathering information and validating previously submitted data.
